About Your Consultant

Dennis Stage. Building Science Consultant/Inspector. Mr. Stage has over three decades of experience in the building science industry. He has been a general contractor, a building and stucco inspector, and an Indoor Environmental Professional. Mr. Stage is a graduate of the University of Maryland (Summa cum Laude) and holds a Master’s Degree from Georgia State University (Magna cum Laude). He is a life member of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and is completing a Master’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene at Tulane University.   • American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) – Certified Home Inspector. ASHI is the oldest and most respected home inspector organization. ASHI establishes inspection standards, protocols, and a code of ethics for professional home inspectors. ASHI certification requires evidence of completion of a minimum of 250 fee-paid home inspections and passing the National Home Inspector Examination (NHIE). ASHI Number: 210045
  • Georgia Association of Home Inspectors (GAHI). Full member. GAHI is the recognized state level home inspector organization that emphasizes training, education, and knowledge of building codes.
  • Certified Residential Combination Inspector - International Code Council Code (ICC). Full building code certification. The Residential Combination Inspector Certification is the highest code certification issued to individuals who conduct residential inspections. Certification requires several months of classroom instruction and four separate closed-book comnprehensive examinations. ICC Number: 5188755-R5
  • National Association of Certified Home Inspectors (NACHI) - Certified Home Inspector. NACHI is the largest inspection association in North America and the largest provider of inspector continuing education. NACHI Number: 05020804
  • Certified Stucco Inspector – Exterior Design Institute (EDI) and Moisture Warranty Corporation (MWC). EDI and MWC are the two most accepted and recognized stucco inspector certifying bodies. Both certifications require completion of formal training programs and passing of several examinations.
  • Graduate Certificate in Industrial Hygiene - Tulane School of Tropical Medicine and Public Health. Tulane University's graduate certificate program is accredited by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) and meets the educational requirements for admittance to the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) examination.
  • Member-American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). AIHA is one of the largest international associations for professionals practicing industrial hygiene in industry, government, labor, academic institutions, and independent organizations. Membership in AIHA requires proof of undergraduate/graduate academic achievement in specific scientific areas and evidence of experience in industrial hygiene or occupational health fields. In addition to providing training and resources for its members, AIHA is one of the most respected accrediting organizations for labs conducting analysis of microbial testing samples.   • Board Certified Indoor Air Quality Professional (CIAQP) - Association of Energy Engineers. AEE's Certified Indoor Air Quality Professional (CIAQP) program is designed to provide recognition for indoor air quality professionals who have demonstrated a high level of competence in their field, and an in-depth knowledge of the principles and practices of indoor air quality assessment, design, management, and problem mitigation. Individuals earning the right to put "CIAQP" behind their names have distinguished themselves as leaders in their profession, exhibiting excellence in the areas of specialized knowledge, experience, proficiency and ethical fitness.   • Certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) - The American Indoor Air Quality Council (AMIAQC). The CIEC designation is the premier level of certification granted by AMIAQC. It requires proof of 8 years of experience in the indoor air quality fields and the passing of a rigorous closed-book examination.   • Member-Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA). The Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) was established in 1995 to promote uniform standards, procedures and protocols in the Indoor Air Quality industry.   • Certified Level I Thermographer – Infrared Training Center. ITC Infrared Thermography Certifications are globally recognized and are designed to exceed the requirements of international infrared certification standards. ITC's Level I Infrared Course meets all Level I ASNT-SNT-TC-1A recommendations for thermal/infrared testing established by the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing (ASNT). ITC Number: 30354
  • Exterior Design Institute (EDI) Certified Moisture Analyst. EDI is the largest Third-Party stucco and moisture inspector training and membership organization. An EDI CMA is trained to detect moisture using both moisture probing and surface scanning type moisture meters. Emphasis is placed on detecting moisture that is hidden or concealed (i.e., behind walls). EDI certification requires extensive training and testing. EDI Number: GA47
  • AHERA/EPA/ASHARA (TSCA Title II) Accredited Asbestos Inspector. This is the EPA desiginated asbestos inspector accreditation. It requires extensive training and passing of a comprehensive closed-book examination on asbestos, inspection techniques and protocols, and knowledge of the National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) regulations.   • Certified Radon Measurement Provider - National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP). NRPP certification is the successor to the original (and now defunct) EPA Radon Certification. A person holding the residential measurement credential is qualified to place, retrieve, and interpret the results of a measurement device analyzed by a NEHA certified Analytical Laboratory. In addition to this certification, Mr. Stage also holds the NRPP Standard Analytical Services Certification which authorizes him to interpret data from Continuous Radon Monitors (CRMs).   • Member – American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists (AARST). AARST Members are typically industry practitioners, members of academic institutions, staff of regulatory or environmental, health, energy or other governmental agencies, and other individuals interested in radon science and technology.   • Formerly served on the Board of Directors - Georgia Association of Home Inspectors.
  • In addition to his inspection/technical qualifications, Mr. Stage has several years experience as a classroom instructor and frequently conducts classes in Realtor and Inspector training. His articles have appeared in numerous trade publications and he has served as an expert court witness.
